Almost every import tool, database and shop platform wants CSV and nothing else.
XLSX is a ZIP of XML like DOCX, and keeps everything a spreadsheet needs: formulas, multiple sheets, formatting, charts and validation rules. It also lifted the row limit from 65 536 to 1 048 576.
CSV is a table written as plain text with commas between the values. It has no formulas, no formatting, no second sheet and no notion of a data type, which is exactly why every database, shop and analytics tool accepts it.

CSV holds a single sheet of plain values. Formulas are written out as their last calculated result, and formatting, charts, validation rules and every sheet after the first are dropped. Convert a copy, not your only workbook.
Most documents finish in a few seconds. Conversion runs on our server rather than in your browser, so the slow part is usually the upload. Long reports and image-heavy files take proportionally longer.
Your file is uploaded to our server because the conversion runs there. A cleanup task runs every hour and deletes anything older than an hour, so nothing you upload survives more than about two hours. We do not open your files, we do not keep copies, and no account is needed to use the converter.
